The Challenge

  • Client needed to reduce costs of distributing paper-based owner- and service manuals to all dealerships
  • Client had to eliminate use of inventory space for print materials at dealerships and at company
  • Dealers had to be able to view manuals online, including a supplement issued since the last update

Our Role

  • Took full responsibility for design and implementation of both the Web solution and print-on-demand
  • Created a successful partnership with a trusted print-on-demand vendor and managed this without issues for client
  • Implemented creative Web solution that enabled a quick response and search time for end users
  • Designed and implemented a retail Web solution where consumers order print-ondemand manuals
  • Developed a back-office solution keeping track of and managing the many versions of owner- and service manuals as well as fulfillment of orders from dealers and the retail portal
  • Hosted Web solution off-site and created interfaces to client dealer portal and internal ordering system

The Results

  • Successful staged implementation that made System Simulations an ongoing critical partner of client
  • Reduced annual budget for manual distribution to dealerships by more than 50 percent
  • Eliminated need for printed manuals in dealerships, increasing technician productivity and reducing space needed for manuals
  • Significantly reduced phone calls to (and workload of) technical service department, since technicians could find manuals and needed information online
